GC122 Alcohol Inks

The challenge over at Gingersnap Creations is to use alcohol inks. I made this cute giraffe card with an animal print background made with alcohol inks. I learned this technique recently in a class I'm taking over at My Creative Classroom. The giraffe stamp, which I love, is by Rubber Cottage (I think). The sentiment stamp is Pink by Design.

GC120 Turquoise, Blue and Purple

These are all colors I like, but not what I would normally think of for a Halloween card. However, that's what I made and I have to say, "I love it!" Of course that might be because I used one of my favorite techniques--the glitter lace technique. Stamps are Mrs. O'Leary and Mark's Finest Papers.

Another Birthday Card

This was the birthday card I made for my husband. Masculine cards are always hard for me and while this isn't exactly masculine, it's not feminine either.

GC114 Baby Wipes and TSC21 Fabulous Faux

I'm here with another ATC that I'm entering in two challenges. The background is the faux fabric technique. It's made by taking baby wipes and spraying them with an assortment of sprays. Once they're dry, attach them to the ATC (or card) base. I then used Halloween stamps from the Stampsmith to create this fun ATC.

GC113 Babes and Tots

Wow, two posts in one day. I'm on a roll! This ATC was made for a swap and I'm also entering it into Gingersnap Creations Babes and tots challenge.
I used stamps from Rogue Redhead and Tim Holtz. I also used the Tim Holtz technique of dabber resist.

TSC20 Sketchy

For this Stampsmith Challenge you had to use a Stampsmith stamp and follow their sketch. I made this Get Well card using a flower from the flower plate. This is one of my favorite plates. I also used a Cheery Lynn doily die and words from Impression Obsession.

TSC19 Teal and Yellow

My poor blog has been a bit neglected here lately, but hopefully with the kids back to school I will be able to post more often. I did find the time to make a Teal and Yellow card for the Stampsmith Challenge.

The stamp is from The Stampsmith. I paper pieced her dress and colored the rest of the image with Copic markers and chalks.

Summer Camp Week Four

For the last week of summer camp an array of blues and greens were chosen as the colors. I made a card for a very good friend who loves to read as much as I do.

I used a technique on the background of this card that Gina K demonstrated on Stamp TV. Basically, you cover the card stock with versamark and emboss with embossing powder. Then, run the heat embossed piece through an embossing machine with an embossing folder. This gives you a piece that's both heat and dry embossed. I wasn't going for a distressed look, but I sanded the piece lightly to bring out the swirls.
The main image is a Stampland stamp. I also bought the template for this stamp making it easy to color. Sentiment is from Papertrey Ink. Flowers are Prima.

Chicken Card

I can't believe it's already week three of Summer Camp Cardmaking Class. The colors this week were much more muted than the bright colors from weeks one and two. I made this chicken card using stamps from Tweety Jill and Invoke Arts.

In the Mail Card

This is the card that I made for the second week of the card making class I'm taking. We had a different color palette to work with this week--lots of bright summer colors. I used card stock, ribbon, stamps and the postage die from Papertrey Ink. I also used stamps from Rubbernecker, Fancy Pants and About Art Accents.

Bee Card

I'm taking an on-line card class with Jennifer McGuire and Kristina Werner.  For the first week our challenge was to use a color combo of pinkish/purple, red, sky blue, orange and white.  Here's my entry.  I used stamps from Blockheads (the bees and flower medallion), an impression plate from Papertrey Ink and a small butterfly punch from Martha Stewart.  For my background I stamped the bees with orange pigment ink and embossed with clear embossing powder.  I then sponged blue pigment ink over that.  I find I don't use pigment ink that often, so this was a nice change.  The other inks are Memento dye inks.
This is a great class and I highly recommend it.

GC108 The Color of Money and Altered Pages

This week the challenge at Gingersnap Creations is to use the color of money for your country.  Well, since I'm in the US, that means green.  I used Altered Pages collage sheet AP-1855 Beauty in Green for my focal image.  For the outer and inner sentiment, I used a stamp I've had for a long time, but have never found the right place for it.  I thought it fit perfectly with the shopping/money theme.

GC107 Bags and Tags And Altered Pages

This week the challenge at Gingersnap Creations is bags and tags.  I chose to make a bag out of K and Co patterned paper and to decorate it with an image from Altered Pages.  The image I chose is from AP-1714 Green Collage.

GC106 Packing Materials and Altered Pages

Gingersnap Creations continues their month of shopping and Altered Pages is the sponsor for this challenge, which is to use packaging materials in your artwork.  I used Altered Pages collage sheet #AP-1261, The Height of Fashion and did a packing tape transfer.  This is a very easy type of image transfer, but I had forgotten that it won't work on ink jet prints, only laser copies.  So I had to dig out one of my older Altered Pages sheets since I now order mostly digital images.  So after a few failed attempts with ink jet copies, my laser image transferred beautifully.  To make a packing tape transfer, simply place packing tape over your image and soak it in a bowl of water.  After a few minutes, gently remove the paper from the back by rubbing it with your finger.  Keep adding water as necessary.  Don't rub too hard or you can damage the image.

My card also uses a polished stone background and stamps from Tim Holtz and Blockheads.

GC105 At the Mall and Altered Pages

Altered Pages is sponsoring the Gingersnap Creations challenges this month.  This challenge theme is At the Mall.  Play along for  a chance to win a prize from Altered Pages.  My card uses stamps from I brake for Stamps and Stubby Stampers along with AP collage sheet #477, Ladies Who Lunch.  It's a matchbook style card.  I love how it turned out, but must admit I'm not really a shoe person.  I live in my walking/athletic shoes and would never put on a dress shoe if I didn't have to now and then .

Asian ATCs

I made these Asian ATCs for a swap.  Some of the items I used I won from Trisha when she offered them up as blog candy on her blog.  The newspaper, red paper and little red flowers were in the goody bag.  It's fun to win so I'll have to offer up some candy myself soon.  The swap is a card swap where we had to use the Queen of Clubs.

GC100 Red and Gold

I made this ATC for a swap, but it also fits the color challenge over at Gingersnap Creations.  I stamped the flower on acetate, filled it in with glue and sprinkled the red and gold glitters on it.  The edge of the ATC is outlined with gold stickles.

TSC 12 Spring

Time for another Stampsmith Challenge.  Since it's the second half of the month, you must use at least one Stampsmith stamp, but this challenge was easy since I have the beautiful Botanica sheet from the Stampsmith.  The flowers were stamped on glossy paper with Rocket Red Brilliance ink.  Paper and ribbon are from Papertrey ink and the dies are Spellbinders.

Trio of Tags

I made these tags for a swap with Red Lead.  I like how cheerful and spring-like they turned out.  It does nothing except rain here lately.

GC95 Typewriters

It's been awhile since I've had time to play along with a Gingersnap Creations challenge.  This one is to use typewriters.  I have this great typewriter stamp by Cherry Pie Art Stamps and decided to use it for the challenge.  The background stamp is Posh and the sentiment Papertrey Ink.

TSC8 Travel

The challenge the second half of February over at the Stampsmith Challenge Blog, is travel.  At least one Stampsmith stamp must be used.  I used the image of the cyclist.  I stamped him on acetate and layered over a base made with glimmer mists sprayed over a stencil.  I think the stencil is really supposed to be a gear, but it looked like a sun to me and then the idea for this card just fell together.  I attached the acetate to the card with photo corners punched out of the same background.

GC 89 and TSC7

Some people are really skilled at making their creations fit multiple challenges, but this is somewhat unusual for me.  But both Gingersnap Creations and The Stampsmith Challenge have challenges running to make something royal or with kings and queens.  My card uses a stamp from The Stampsmith and some fabulous paper from Graphic 45.  The inverted circle die cut is a Spellbinder's Nestability.  I'm feeling a bit like a queen myself.  My husband gave me the night off last night and took the kids away for a little camp out (indoors).  Otherwise, I probably wouldn't have been able to get this done.  I've been busy helping the kids make their valentine cards for school.

GC86 Coffee Filters

I've been wanting to make some coffee filter flowers like I've seen elsewhere on the net and this challenge from Gingersnap Creations was the perfect incentive.  For my first attempt, I kept things quite simple.  I sprayed a bunch of coffee filters with a variety of inks and then cut them out using various dies.  For this card, I layered up my green flowers, cut with a Spellbinder's die, and held them together with a brad in the center.  Then I used the flower as the focal point of my card.  I made a couple more of this same layout that I plan to share on Stamper's Quest.
Supplies:  card stock (Papertrey Ink), sentiment (See-Dees), patterned paper (Memory Box), lace trim (Prima), Color Wash Sprays (Stamp Zia)

GC84: Color Challenge - Snow, Pine & Mahogany

Snow, pine and mahogany are three lovely colors that go well together, so I couldn't resist making a card for this challenge at Gingersnap Creations.  I made the background by spraying forest color wash onto watercolor paper and then giving it a tint of gold sparkle with glimmer mist.  The pear stamp (Qwik Art) was then stamped with embossing ink and embossed with white powder.  I then cut out the shape with a nestability dye.  The card base is Papertrey Ink's Scarlet Jewel cardstock and the ribbon is their matching ribbon.  I matted a piece of Prima designer paper onto that, and then attached my focal piece.

Stamp TV STVSKSP7 challenge

This is my first time playing along with a Stamp TV challenge.  This is a sketch challenge that can be seen here.  I used the Gina K set Elegant Flowers and Cosmo Cricket designer paper.  The flowers are colored with Copic markers.  This will be my sister-in-law's birthday card.
