Scrapbook page with so-so picture

Yikes, I haven't posted on the blog for awhile.  Been pretty busy as we all are this time of year.  Here's a scrapbook page I made with a picture that's definitely not that good, but I wanted to include it because it had a mildly amusing story behind it.  Now, I don't have a problem scrapping my less than stellar photos, but if I can take even better photos, I'm all for it.  Here's something that I'm hoping will help--a free webinar with Katrina Kennedy, professional photographer.
The webinar is called "Oh, Shoot! Creating a Successful Daily Photography Project."

And did I mention, it's FREE.

Thanksgiving Card

There's not a lot of stamping in this quick and easy Thanksgiving card.  But I used a Tim Holtz flourish stamp to stamp the background with Versamark ink.  Then I brushed Perfect Pearls on it to give it a soft, glimmery color.  Patterned paper, twine, an image from Twisted Paper and a die cut finish out the card.

Found Poetry Swap-part two

I recently posted the ATC's I made for a Found Poetry swap.  Here are the ATC's I received.

I hope you enjoy them.  This was a fun swap.

Found Poetry Swap

I recently participated in an interesting swap through the Collage Stuff Yahoo group.  The idea behind "found poetry" is to take pages from an old book, cut out words and make little poems from this.  This particular swap was for ATC's, which are one of my favorites anyway.  These are the ATC's I made.

I found this swap fun and challenging. In a later post I will share the ATCs I got in exchange.

MFT sketch challenge 143

I made this card for the My Favorite Things sketch challenge and for a swap.  The flowers are MFT stamps and dies.  I love the soft look they have.

Remember Card

I made this card for Simon Says Stamp's Monday challenge.  The challenge was to use an exclusive Simon product.  I used a die called Bella Bloom to make my flower.  My image is stamped on an alchohol ink background.  I used patterned paper and two different types of netting to make the flower.

Time to Play

Here's a card I made following the Mojo Monday 213 sketch.  I was doing some straightening in my craft room and found this set of wooden playing card stamps by Inkadinkado.

Scrapbook Layout-Gossamer Blue #1 September

Hello Blogging Friends.  I made this scrapbook page from Gossamer Blue's September kit.  I think the only items not from the kit are the white card stock, the journaling stamp and the alpha.  I'm a relatively new subscriber to Gossamer Blue and I plan on entering their challenge to make 4 layouts a month from their kits.  This layout is about playing mini golf on a long weekend trip to Branson.

Still on the fence about True Scrap 5, an awesome on line papercrafting convention?

I've been to the other True Scrap events, and they were a lot of fun and full of useful information.  But if you've never been, Lain is hosting a complimentary True Scrap Sneak Peek event on Thursday, Sept. 26 to give people a taste of what True Scrap is all about.  This is what Lain has to say about the preview:  "By now you've probably heard about True Scrap 5, the universe's coolest, funnest, and most innovative scrapbooking and papercrafting event. If you aren't one of the over 200 people already signed up to join us online on Oct. 11 and 12,  maybe you have some questions.

Not sure about the whole "virtual webroom" thingy?
Confused about whether you'll like interacting and learning in that online environment?
Wondering if True Scrap is really different than other online learning opportunities?

Wonder no more! Join me and some of the True Scrap 5 instructors for an informal get-together on Thursday, Sept. 26. We'll be giving you a tour of the room, answering questions, and even sharing a virtual make-and-take from a previous True Scrap event. And it's free, so sign up and bring a friend!"

Llama Card and Organizing Information

Over at Simon Says Stamp their Monday challenge is to use a stamping all star, or go-to stamp.  I decided to go with this background stamp from Just Rite.  Background stamps are definitely one of my go-to's.

However, I had a hard time making a decision because I have a lot of stamps.  So many, it's difficult to remain organized.  So I plan to attend this free scrapinar here.  It's by Aby Garvy, a professional organizer and hosted by Lain Ehmann, owner of Layout a Day and scrapbooking expert.  There is no charge for this event and even if you can't attend live, a replay will be available for a limited time.  Check it out!

Scrapbook Page-Using Metal Embellishments and True Scrap 5 Announcement

I rarely share scrapbook pages here, since I'm primarily a stamper, but I've been scrapping more lately.  This is a page done for a class I'm taking at Big Picture Classes called Stashbuster's Anonymous.  If you could all see my stash, you would know that I need this class.  I took these photos at Downtown Disney.  I followed the challenge sketch fairly closely, but used Tim Holtz metal embellishments instead of the metal frames used in the class sample.

But wait, there's more...
I've got exciting news to share! If you've been lacking in the creative mojo, or wondering how you
can get more life from the scrapping supplies you already own... or you just want to spend a couple of
days with a bunch of super-cool crafty people, then look no further!
My friend Lain Ehmann of True Scrap has pulled together FIFTEEN of the hottest scrapbooking
instructors around to offer two days of inspiration and fun, such as Heidi Swapp, Nichol Magouirk,
Jennifer Gallacher, and a dozen more. They'll be revealing all their best crafting tips, tricks, techniques,
and secrets in the latest True Scrap event – True Scrap 5.
True Scrap 5 is a two-day, online, LIVE event on October 11-12. Yep, that's right – all fifteen
instructors will come to YOU via the magic of the Internet in a state-of-the-art web room. You'll watch
class demonstrations, chat with instructors and other students, and have the time of your crafty life – all
without leaving home (or even changing out of your PJs!).

Register here.

If you're tired of just staring at your crafting supplies or creating the “same old” projects, then check
out True Scrap 5.  Register before Sept 30th and save $50.

Colorful Bird Card

I created this card using colors from the Color Throwdown Challenge #255.  I loved the bright colors they picked this week.

I also used three dies.  The branch die is from Memory Box, the label die is Cheery Lynn and the border die is Spellbinders.  So I am also entering this in the Simon Says Stamp Make the Cut challenge.

If you love color as I do, you might be interested in attending this free seminar hosted by Lain Ehmann of Layout a Day.com.  Sign up here.

Birthday card

This card was inspired by Summer Card Camp 2 with Jennifer McGuire and Kristina Werner.  It uses the color combo for week 3 and one of the sketches.
Also, since it's a birthday card, I'm entering it in Simon Says Stamps Monday Challenge.
The background was made by using two Impression Obsession cover a card stamps, one inked in pool and the other in raspberry.

Color of Summer week 6-Sage and Sepia

The final colors chosen for the Summer of Color challenge were sage and sepia. I couldn't resist adding the pink.  All stamps are from My Favorite Things and the paper is Echo Park.

Good to be Green

Good to be Green is the challenge this week over at Simon Says Stamp.  This could be interpreted as recycling or using the color green.  I chose to go with the color.  Stamps are Unity stamps and the dies are from Spellbinders.

Candy Apple Red and Yellow

Hello.  I'm back for week 5 of the Color of Summer challenge.  This week we were to use Candy Apple Red and Yellow.  I would be first to admit that this is not a color scheme I would choose on my own, but I really like how my card turned out.  The flower is a stamp from Crafter's Companion.  I painted it with H2O's in a pretty red to match the color scheme.  I'm not a flower person, so I don't know if dahlias really come in the color, but I like it anyway.  The yellow comes from an Echo Park patterned paper pad.

Another Birthday card

I'm taking Summer Card Camp 2 from On Line card classes with Jennifer McGuire and Kristina Werner.  They shared this color combo and some sketches for week 1.  I'm also entering this in Simon Says Stamp challenge, which was to use a little stamp, or a small part of a larger stamp.  The three circle images are small stamps.  Stamps are from Just Rite (backgrounds), Crafter's Companion (words) and Gina K (small stamps).

Summer of Color Week 4

The colors this week were pale pink and charcoal gray at the Color of Summer challenge.  I made this birthday card.  Stamp is from My Favorite Things.  I used a sketch from Papercrafts Magazine.

Masculine Birthday card

Here is a birthday card that I made for my brother-in-law.  This card was inspired by both a class challenge in May Flaum's Camp Scrap 2013 class and a card I saw in Papercraft's Magazine.  May had made a tag using paint through a stencil and that's what I did on the bottom of this card.  I used a Crafter's Workshop stencil and Distress paint.
The palm tree stamp is from Heartfelt Creations, as is the patterned paper.  The sentiment is from Gina K. I'm entering this in Simon Says Stamp's Anything Goes challenge.

Lime Green and Purple with Stripes

Simon Says Stamp's challenge this week is to use stripes.  For Summer of Color week 3, we are to use lime green and purple.  So, I made this birthday card to enter in both challenges.  The card base and ribbon are limeade ice from Papertrey Ink and the piece with the chevron arrows was done by sponging paint through a Crafter's Workshop stencil.  The mat is a deep purple color.  So there's my purple and lime green.
I used a piece of striped patterned paper from Fancy Pants for the scalloped circle.  Image is Hampton Arts for Graphic 45 from the Secret Garden collection.  I lightly colored the bird with chalks and pencils. Finally, the sentiment is from Pink by Design and the dies are all Spellbinders.
I really like how this card turned out and it's always good to have birthday cards of hand.

Summer of Color 2013-Week 1 Citron Green and Turquoise

Week 1 of the summer of Color.  Challenge was Citron Green & Turquoise.  This is the card I made.  I discovered this challenge on 2 AM Scrapper's blog.  We will see if I can make something every week.

Chocolate ATCs

I made these ATC's for a swap at Collage Stuff.  I'm also entering this in Simon Says Stamp button challenge.  The buttons I used here are Jenni Bowlin chipboard.  I also used collage images from Collage Stuff, Dylusions spray mist, a Crafter's Workshop stencil, tissue tape, twine and some trim.  The stamp is from My Favorite Things and is stamped on vellum.

Here's a close up of my favorite:

Another Father's Day card

This is the card I made for my dad.  I used a My Favorite Things stamp (the ship) and a Stamping Scrapping stamp (sentiment).  Paper is Glitz.  I also used Spellbinders Circle dies and a MFT banner die.  I finished it off with some bling glued to a game piece.  This used the MFT Wednesday sketch and was entered into their challenge at Splitcoast stampers.

Mojo Monday 296

I made this card for my niece's birthday.  She just turned 7.  I followed the sketch from Mojo Monday 296 with just a slight tweak to fit my design.  The bunny stamp is from October Afternoon and the sentiment is Papertrey Ink.  Patterned papers are My Mind's Eye.  I love how this turned out!

The Letter "S" for Father's Day

This week on the Simon Says Stamp challenge blog, we are challenged to use the letter "S" in our project.  This could be a supply, subject matter, technique, whatever we choose.  I chose to stamp, of course, but I also used a stencil.  I used a crafter's workshop stencil and pounced paint through it.  It's the chevron arrow print in lower background of my card.  I used Tim Holtz's new tiny stamps for the main images. The sentiment is from Stamping Scrapping.  This will be my husband's Father's Day card.

Feeding the Fish scrapbook page

I made this layout for the Sweet Pea challenge.  I am also doing LOAD this month and this is my page for today's prompt "Red Herring."  I used an image by ching-chou kuik that worked perfectly for my theme.

Make it Monday #113

This is my first time joining in on the Make it Monday challenge.  The challenge this week was to use Perfect Pearls.  At least one product from Papertrey Ink is also required.  I used the Background Basics:  Botanical and plum pudding and raspberry fizz card stock.
I stamped the background stamps with Versamark and added Perfect Pearls in Pink Gumball, Sour Apple and Perfect Gold.  I finished my card off with a collage image from Alpha Stamps.

One Sweet Challenge-use a shape

I made this card for Sweet Pea's challenge blog.  The challenge for April is to make a shaped card.  We are exploring side step cards this month at Stamper's Quest, so I thought I would attempt the circular side step card.  I used Anna Marine's "Trick me Once" as the main image on this card.  The sentiment is from Hot Off the Press.

Ever wonder how you could make money crafting?

If you've wondered about this before or are considering starting your own on-line crafting business, I highly recommend this book from my friend and scrapbooking  professional, Lain Ehmann.  I've taken the class that this book is based upon and she offers a lot of information about starting a business on line, but broken down into an easily digestible step by step process.  Click here for more information.

SSS Challenge Fly

The folks at Simon Says Stamp are challenging stampers to "fly" this week and it just so happens that I made this little ATC for a swap with my Inky Fun Stampers yahoo group.

I used a polished stone piece for the background and also the swirl is die cut from polished stone.  The blue background is a monoprint I made using my new gelli plate.  The bird is stamped and embossed.  Both stamps are from I Brake for Stamps.

February ATCs

Continuing along with my month-themed ATC's here is what I made for February.  Stamp is from Red Lead.
And this is what I received:

I think we both focused on Valentine's Day.

Music soothes the soul

I made this card for a swap and am entering it in the Simon says Stamp quotable challenge.  I also used the sketch from My Favorite Things.

Mojo Monday 286

I don't believe I've ever participated in the Mojo Monday challenge, but I decided to do so this week.  It's round or square week (#286) and I went with square.  My card uses a stamp from Unity Stamp and paper from My Mind's Eye.  I colored the image with Copic markers.

Hello Again

Well, I've been a very bad blogger.  I do have a reason, however.  I've been spending a lot of time over at Stamper's Quest where I have become the new editor.  I've been designing for them for several years, but am now taking on additional responsibility.
For today, however, I'm sharing an ATC I made for a on going swap I'm involved with this year about the months of the year.  This is the ATC I made for January.
And here is the ATC I received from Lyn Stonehewer.
